The Definition of PC Wire
Prestress: Artificial compression stress to compensate tensile stress to be exerted from exterior force.
Prestressed Concrete: Concrete Structure built with Pre-Stress.
PC Wire and PC Strand: Steel Wire or Strands used to Pre-stress concrete structures.
Pre-stressed concrete is high-strength concrete that has internal steel wire reinforcement. Because pre-stressed concrete requires no coatings, it is a low-cost construction material.
Material: High carbon steel.
Diameter: 4.00mm - 9.00mm.
Standards: ASTM A421, ASTM A 881/A 881M, BS5896, JISG3536, ISO6934, EN10138, GB/T5223 or according to customers' requirements.
Packing:
a. Export anti-rust packing with vapors corrosion inhibiting technology and wrapped 3 clothes outside the coil. There are a large wooden pallets on the bottom. 
b. No cloth outside the coil.

PC Wire Types:

• Prestressed concrete steel wire can be divided according to wire diameter, the intensity level, the surface coating or cross-section:

• According to diameter, PC steel wire can be categorized as: 4mm, 4.8mm, 5.0mm, 5.1mm, 6.0mm, 6.35mm, 7.0mm, 7.8mm, 8.0mm, 9.0mm, 10.0mm, 11mm, 12mm and so on.

• According to intensity level can be classified as: 1470MPa, 1570MPa, 1670MPa, 1770MPa and 1860MPa so.

• In accordance with the surface coating, PC wire can be classified as: no coating prestressed steel wire, prestressed epoxy coated steel wire and galvanized prestressed steel wire.

• In accordance with the surface morphology, it can be classified as: light round prestressed steel wire, spiral rib (spiral ribbed or helix grooved) prestressed steel wire, the pressure wave (crimped) prestressed steel wire or nicks (indented) prestressed steel wire and so on.

• In accordance with treatment process can be categorized as follows: cold-drawn prestressing steel wire (no slack performance requirements) and low relaxation prestressed steel wire.

PC wire is used in major construction projects as a means of increasing the strength of cast concrete components, ranging from railway track sleepers, ground stabilizing piles, floor beams and pipe systems. The process involves the continuous heating and stretching of a cold drawn high-carbon steel wire to produce a finished product with a much improved yield stress and greatly reduced load relaxation.

Note: PC wire and strand require great caution because they can be easily damaged by improper handling, storage and installation.
